Details: This distinctive absinthe spoon is a high quality reproduction of the very popular Toulouse Lautrec slotted absinthe spoons that were made from quality stainless sheet. The spoon was originally designed for Toulouse Lautrec and features the insignia of Lautrec's famous initials at the top of the grill.

Absinthe spoons exhibit numerous holes or decorative openings by which the water drips through the sugar cube and into the reservoir of absinthe. The most commonly used designs are pipes, arrows, stars, clovers or clubs, crosses, circles, diamonds, round and flowers. The holes must not be too tiny or too large and the shape of the handles or spoon portion must not dip too low as to cause an imbalance so that the spoon falls into the glass.

Traditional French absinthe ritual
First you pour roughly two to three ounces of absinthe into a heavy parfait-style stemmed absinthe glass. A perforated absinthe spoon is set upon the rim of the glass and a cube of sugar is placed on the spoon. Ice-cold water is slowly dripped from a glass carafe or absinthe fountain, onto the cube. The sugar dissolves and you continue pouring until the ratio of absinthe to water is about two to five parts, depending upon your taste and fortitude. Give the absinthe drink a spin with the spoon and drink like you dripped - slowly.
